Court of Common Pleas -
The City is organizing a committee to work on the task of having the Court of Common Pleas restored.
As most of you know this building is located in the city park, has been in existence since the 1860's, and is one of the few "original" remaining buildings since Sturgeon was "laid out" in 1856.  This committee will look into obtaining a grant to help with a portion of some of the costs of the restoration.
If you are interested in being a part of this project, please contact the City Office.  If you have any historical information about the Court of Common Pleas or Sturgeon in general, please share this information.

Down Town Area -
Charles Sullivan with MODOT was present at the October 28th council meeting to discuss with the council and business owners the two options they are presenting to take care of the no curb issue.  Either install stop blocks or "mill" the asphalt from in front of the curbs.
The council discussed the two options and decided that they would prefer that MODOT come in and mill out a section 2 foot wide by 2 inches deep along the east side of Odgen Street in the downtown area.

Park & Tree Board -
The Park & Tree Board is currently applying for re-certification as Tree City U.S.A for the seventh consecutive year. As Tree City U.S.A., we promote the practices of the Arbor Day Foundation along with the International Society of Arborists (ISA) with regard to tree care and proper pruning practices.  Most visible is their campaign against "Tree Topping" which is gradually being eliminated.  The city office has available for your perusal, information regarding proper pruning techniques and choosing an arborist for your tree maintenance.
Many thanks go to Mrs. Amy Truesdell and her art class for all of their efforts in beautifying the "fort" at the city park.  Over the course of the summer and early fall they repainted the "fort" with bright colors and interesting artwork. Please drop by and take a look.
The Park & Tree Board is still two members shy and are seeking interested people with a desire to make a difference in the Sturgeon community to join our efforts.  If you feel this is something for you - please contact the City Office (573) 687-3321 or Mitch Taylor (573) 687-3892.

Prime Development -
There will be a public hearing on 11/25/02 at 7:00 PM to discuss the report that Prime has submitted to the city.  At this time, the city will discuss whether we will provide them with a letter of support regarding the proposed industrial park on Benson Road.
If you have, any questions or concerns feel free to attend this meeting.
